Location: Online (Zoom or Discord), or in-person in Montreal

Type: On-demand consultation, no guaranteed hours

Pay: $100 per hr for coaching and office hours. $500 per presentation (1 hr presenting, 4 hrs prep)

Dates: October 2026 to June 2027, renewable based on funding.

About the role

Help young English-speaking job seekers in Quebec find and keep work. Through Engaged & Employed, a free Apathy is Boring program, you'll share your expertise with youth through one-on-one sessions, hosting office hours on our Discord and/or giving presentations on Zoom or Discord.

Sessions you can offer:

1:1 coaching: Meet youth online (camera on) or in person. Help with resumes, interviews, breaking into your field, and more.
Office hours: Host drop-in time on our Discord where youth can bring their questions.
Presentations: Give a 1-hour talk on your field or a job-search topic, on Zoom or Discord.

We’ll offer you a 1-hour paid training, support and simple guides you can follow during your sessions. For each session, you’ll need to complete a short 2-minute report to confirm your work and receive payment.

Who we're looking for

You have expertise that can help young people get a job.
You can mentor in English.
You have a resume or LinkedIn profile that shows your experience.
You can invoice as an independent contractor.

Bonus if you:

Have deep knowledge of a high-demand sector (health, education, community/social economy, skilled trades, engineering/IT, law, consulting).
Can help youth build confidence speaking French.
Hire people, or know people who are hiring.
Can teach Quebec youth how to file their taxes

What we offer

$100 per hour for coaching and office hours, and $500 per presentation (4 hours of prep + 1 hour presenting).
One hour of paid mentorship training.
Flexible hours. Pick the activities that suit you and set your own availability. Mentors in high-demand fields get more coaching hours.
A direct way to help young people in Quebec start their careers.

How to apply

Apply on Humi with your resume or LinkedIn profile, explain what expertise you can share with young job seekers, and which activities interest you: coaching, office hours or presentations. We review applications as they come in until all mentor spots are filled.

After you apply

We engage mentors based on the needs of the current Engaged & Employed participants. We could reach out to you any time in the next 9 months for your expertise.

Your expertise will be evaluated during a short interview. Then, we’ll offer you a 1-hour paid mentorship training, and facilitation guides for your sessions. We will promote your services to our participants. You will get bookings based on participant demand.

Privacy: Apathy is Boring collects the information in your application only to assess your candidacy and, if you're selected, to match you with program participants. It is stored securely in Humi, seen only by our hiring team, and handled in line with Quebec's privacy law (Law 25). You can ask to access, correct or delete your information at any time.
